Physician GermWatch 1.6

This application serves as a valuable resource for Intermountain Physicians and clinicians, providing pertinent information aligned with their respective scopes of practice, whether in inpatient, outpatient, or emergency department settings, and applicable to both adult and pediatric populations. The app is divided into two main components: Antibiograms and Surveillance.

The Antibiogram feature presents cumulative laboratory testing results regarding the susceptibility of isolated bacterial strains to various antibiotics. Clinicians can utilize this tool to guide their selection of appropriate antibiotics; however, it is essential to regard the antibiogram as a preliminary reference for empirical antimicrobial therapy until specific susceptibility results from individual patient isolates are obtained.

The Surveillance component is comprised of Disease Updates and graphical representations of respiratory and gastrointestinal data.

The Disease Update section provides a weekly overview of GermWatch surveillance activities, typically refreshed every Monday or as significant information arises. This update not only highlights current epidemiological trends but may also include links to external sources for further reading.

Respiratory and gastrointestinal surveillance is derived from laboratory-confirmed cases identified across the Intermountain system's hospitals and clinics. Additionally, syndrome surveillance employs CM-ICD-9 diagnosis codes and reasons for patient visits to identify individuals fitting specific syndrome criteria, such as influenza-like illness (ILI).
